The National Diabetes Prevention Program (National DPP) is a partnership of public and private organizations working to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.

The overarching goal of the National DPP is to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes by helping participants make modest lifestyle changes over the course of one year. The original Diabetes Prevention Program Research Study found the lifestyle change program reduced a person with prediabetes risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58 percent (71% in people 60 and older). Participants set individual goals to reduce their body weight by five to seven percent and to increase their physical activity level to at least 150 minutes per week. The program is facilitated by trained lifestyle coaches who support participants in making changes to their lifestyle.
