Food For Those Who Need It

Utah has many food resources to help people out in times of need (see below) and many more they are working on

SNAP:

Commonly known as Food Stamps, SNAP is a Federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that helps struggling families put food on the table. Each month more than 46 million people receive assistance from the SNAP program.

Utahns Against Hunger:

Utahns Against Hunger (UAH) is an association which helps people find the food help that they need through both charitable responses and Federal Nutrition Programs.

Utah Food Bank:

The Utah Food Bank collects and distributes food to human service organizations throughout the state.

Waste Less Solutions:

Waste Less Solutions works to reduce food waste by coordinating the “rescue” of leftover edible food and bringing it to the food insecure in our community. Check it out here.

Community Fridges:

A Community fridge is a donation location that anyone can access to donate or pick up food to feed themselves and their families. They are run by neighbors and other organizations looking to feed food insecure communities. See the closest community fridge to you below.

Community Food Security Program:

The Community Food Security Program (CFSP) works to cultivate an equitable and resilient local food system that ensures all Utahns have access to affordable, safe, nutritious, and culturally appropriate food. The CFSP offers Double Up Utah in partnership with Utah Farmers Markets to double SNAP benefits up to $30. CFSP also offers Produce Rx which is a fruit and vegetable prescription program implemented in a healthcare setting to screen and enroll eligible patients into the program during regular clinic visits. Eligible patients receive up to $300 to spend at participating farmers markets and local retailers. Learn more at the Community Food Security website here.

Feed Utah Project:

The Feed UT Project is a website run by the Salt Lake County Health Department that utilizes a food pantry and ready-to-eat meal finder to connect the community with essential food resources. The site covers all of Utah and also lists Farmer’s Markets that accept SNAP.
